Analysis & Design phase typically comprises of the following tasks:
Refine and validate a stable baseline architecture
Capture the key interactions and the process and data flows in the system through interaction and activity diagrams.
Capture states and state transitions in the system using state diagrams.
Design the important subsystems, components and nodes.
Develop an evolutionary architectural prototype.
Address performance, scalability, reliability and security considerations.
Formulate strategies for data conversion/migration.
Establish Project Infrastructure
Establish repository for project documents.
Complete scope document.
Refine Project/Risk Management Plans.
Conduct RAPID process training for project team(s).
Establish QE Environment
Obtain and setup hardware, software, tools and automation support for system development, testing and production.
Implement configuration and issue tracking tools.
Develop QE plan.
Identify QE resources for the project.
Develop cycle plan
Determine optimal cycle length (usually between 1 and 4 weeks). .
Validate BSMs and prioritize use cases based on BSMs and associated risks.
Partition the available use cases across the cycles.
Develop a high-level cycle plan.
