Product
Information Management (PIM) is a collaborative solution
to maintain product data with all of its rich detail
(attributes) across different business units and organizational
groups within the enterprise, such as engineering, sales,
marketing, operations, e-business or procurement. All
product information is sourced from a single repository
and thus available across the enterprise at the touch
of a button. ‘A single source of truth’
enables ease of product data synchronization across
all corporate internal systems, as well as out to all
customers and partners. |

| Why PIM? |
 |
Accurate
and timely availability of product information is critical
to a company in meeting its business performance objectives.
Many companies today face inaccurate, inconsistent and
redundant product data spread across a plethora of applications
across the enterprise. Companies are also challenged
with significant costs for getting product information
into numerous systems that are not integrated. The lack
of integration results in substantial reconciliation,
research and rework of product data to achieve quality.
Data standards and taxonomies for exchanging product
information with suppliers and customers are currently
a moving target. Companies today are hard pressed to
keep up with these evolving standards and changing data
format needs of their trading partners. |
